In October, South Sudan officially became part of the BRICS International Fashion Federation — a historic move announced at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit, held in Moscow from October 3rd to 5th. With over 100 countries represented, this summit launched what is now the largest fashion organization for emerging markets worldwide.
The BRICS International Fashion Federation is a union of countries and fashion institutions, created to strengthen collaboration, expand global fashion markets, and support creative industries through shared principles and action. South Sudan joined the Federation through the leadership of SSFW Founder and CEO, Trisha Nyachack and Co-founder, Dawson Dau, who represented the country during high-level discussions and helped shape the shared declaration.
“The BRICS International Fashion Federation will be important as the center of establishing fashion markets and accessing them. Through this Federation, a lot of ideas and collaborations can be formulated and major breakthroughs achievable,”
— Dawson Dau Amol Deng, Co-Founder & Executive Director, SSFW.
This membership positions South Sudan as an official voice within a global fashion alliance that includes countries like India, South Africa, Russia, Ethiopia, Egypt, the United States, Ghana, Kenya, Malaysia, Indonesia, and more
South Sudanese Fashion Week (SSFW) has joined forces with BRICS to drive a bold new vision for fashion, creativity, and cultural influence. This collaboration marks a new wave for South Sudan — where fashion isn’t just art, it’s a tool for storytelling, empowerment, and global recognition.
Together, SSFW and BRICS are working to elevate South Sudanese talent, open new doors for local designers and creatives, and build bridges between grassroots innovation and global opportunity. This moment isn’t about following trends — it’s about setting the standard for what’s next.
The BRICS International Fashion Federation (BRICS IFF) is built on core values that reflect a new direction for global fashion — one rooted in sustainability, cultural preservation, and opportunity. It is not a closed circle, but an open and inclusive global union, welcoming all who align with its mission.
The key points of the Federation’s declaration include:
Supporting and showcasing local talent
Promoting sustainable and eco-friendly fashion
Strengthening cultural exchange between nations
Investing in education, innovation, and fashion tech
Preserving cultural identities and heritage craftsmanship
Encouraging mindful, slow fashion production
With the official website and structure launching soon, the Federation will begin accepting applications for additional members who want to join this historic movement.
South Sudan’s membership in BRICS IFF proves that the world is ready — and we’re ready too. SSFW stands not just as a national platform but as a global player, representing the voices, ideas, and ambitions of a new generation of African creatives.
This isn’t just about fashion.
This is about legacy.
